New Brooklyn Hotel
Background
New hotel in the swanky area between Chinatown and Gay Village of Manchester. The New Brooklyn Hotel takes it's hipster stylings from the borough of New York - complete with trouser braces, dickie-bows, white jackets and to-die-for cocktails.
The hotel style is New York prohibition era. Think 1920's flapper girls, Thonet Chairs, lush carpets and black and white photography.
Production
Gatton Joinery were asked to provide bespoke joinery for the ground floor, ninth floor foyer, Salvation bar and Runyon's restaurant and bar.
Fabrication took twelve weeks.
Reception
Starting with the ground floor, Gatton provided three reception desks, designed in a 1920's industrial/Art Deco magnate style. Benches were also provided in the area.
Restaurant & Bar
Ground floor leads to Runyons restaurant and bar. Think speakeasy, filtered through with 1950's style furniture. Staircase to nowhere converted to bleacher style seating - solid wood fronting onto bricks. Its a cool area.
Dividers and shelving with cabinets were provided throughout the bar and restaurant - taking the design hint of the Brooklyn Bridge cables. Manufactured in MDF, veneered with oak and iron work. Coffee, side and dining tables also produced. Fabrication of bar with iron work racked storage for glassware, spirits, wines and cocktail condiments. Bar has wide MDF, back painted, bridge wire inspired frontage. Brooklyn beer on tap.
Large free-standing centre-piece sideboard and smaller fitted cabinets were manufactured. Painted wall panel cladding throughout. Steam-bent slatted screens within the restaurant areas.
Ninth Floor
Foyer consists of slatted wall panels, sideboards, ceiling slatted panels - holding lighting and hanging baskets and old style table tennis table.
Salvation Bar is slatted with corian and oak veneered MDF.
Restroom sink cabinets and toilet stall doors also manufactured.
